Who we are
Vetscurions is a non-profit organization started by a group of veterinary professionals who wanted to use their skills and expertise to help communities worldwide that needed it most.

We also recognize that we all play a part in keeping our planet healthy. We approach veterinary medicine in the field with sustainability and environmentalism in mind.
​
This all ties in with a concept called One Health, which recognizes an inseparable link between the health of people, animals, and the environment. This isn’t a new idea but has come to the forefront with emerging diseases such as COVID-19 and the deterioration of the environment through climate change. In fact, organizations such as the World Health Organization and the US Centers for Disease Control now recognize the One Health initiative as pivotal for the future health of our planet and everyone living on it!

Lastly, we hope to bring aspiring veterinary professionals into the field with us. Before Vetscursions, we had the privilege of working with communities far from home and it was central to who we've become and how we practice medicine to this day.

What is a "Vetscursion"?
As you can probably tell, a "Vetscursion" is a veterinary excursion. Running down to the local humane society to volunteer is wonderful, and we encourage you all to do so, but there are many communities in need around the world that don't have a local humane society to depend on.
​
Vetscursions are like veterinary mission trips; the goal is to get veterinary care to communities in need. This may be remote islands without access to veterinary care or populated areas suffering from a natural disaster that has overwhelmed the available resources.
​
Because of where we're going, Vetscursions will be hard work but that doesn't mean they can't also be a fun and fulfilling experience. In fact, our love of adventure and veterinary medicine is why we started Vetscursions in the first place!
Where do you come in?
We want you to be a part of this effort! We exist solely through the support of people like you who want to help make the world a better place for the animals and people who live in it.

Vetscursions is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This means you can rest assured that all of your contributions go to a good cause.
​
Soon, we'll start inviting others to come along for some vetscursions in the future. Follow along with the journey and we'll let you know when there's an opportunity for you to roll up your sleeves!
